Selah: "To Pause and Consider"
Sunday, February 5, 2012
Thomas Sherman - "I must sow my seed--and wait upon the clouds for rain. I must do my work--and leave the event to God. I must neither be idle in the means--nor make on idol of the means. I will therefore lay my hands to the means, as if they were all in all; and yet look above the means--as if they were nothing at all."
SELAH!
Thomas Sherman lived in the mid 1700s and was the author of "A pious soul thirsting after Christ."
As much as possible, credit will be given to those whose "Selahs" have prompted my own consideration and meditation. Some are originial (probably not many) with me or are completely anonymous. (Disclaimer: I don't say that every "Selah" story is true, it's an illustration that is designed to get you to reflect upon the point of the story.)
