Selah: "To Pause and Consider"

Monday, February 6, 2012

Ed Young - ""Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" were ideals of America’s founders. "Happiness," for them, was not wild living, nor endless acquisition, but a content, disciplined, ordered life. The definition has changed. Happiness, as currently understood, can be stolen by circumstances, people and possessions. Let life situation change, betrayal enter and possessions be taken, and happiness is yanked. But God's joy is an eternal state of being. His joy can never be stolen."

SELAH!

Ed Young was a past president of the Southern Baptist Convention. He is the author of many books. And, he is the senior pastor of the Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas.

As much as possible, credit will be given to those whose "Selahs" have prompted my own consideration and meditation. Some are originial (probably not many) with me or are completely anonymous. (Disclaimer: I don't say that every "Selah" story is true, it's an illustration that is designed to get you to reflect upon the point of the story.)
