Richard Innes - "An amusing thing happened in one year's Rose Bowl Parade in Pasadena, California, when one beautifully decorated float suddenly came to a stand-still. It ran out of fuel!
The irony was that this float was entered by and represented the Standard Oil Company-one of the largest fuel companies of North America. With all their vast oil and gasoline resources they failed to make sure their own vehicle was running on full.

Arthur Joyce - "Dr. Richard Swenson, a Christian physician, wrote a book in which he discusses one of the major maladies of our time - anxiety and stress. He calls it "overload," and says that people are just plain overloaded.
1. We're overloaded with commitments. We've committed ourselves to go here and there, to take part in this activity and that social function. We have overloaded ourselves with commitments.
2. We're overloaded with possessions. Our closets are full, and our garages are overflowing. We’ve gone into debt to pay for all of these things that we "simply must have." We are overloaded in the area of possessions.
3. We're overloaded with work. We feel we have to be if we're going to pay for all those possessions that we've accumulated.
4. We're overloaded with information. As a doctor he said he has to read 220 articles a month just to keep up with all the changes in his profession. And with the internet there’s an information superhighway. But the problem is that we can’t possibly absorb it all.

We had been working at simplification for some time and had made much progress at removing many things that were just taking up space. But as we worked on this most recent project, we saw that we could really simplify in a great many more ways. The simplification process was liberating us from the tyranny of the masses (those great collections of things that come as time marches by us).

They try by their own efforts to unlock the door of salvation or the door of true contentment or the door of peace or any number of other doors that find their base in the promises of God to His people, but all their efforts are a waste of time. Long ago Jesus Christ unlocked the door, and all we need to do is just to lift the latch and by faith walk through the door."
